Job Description:

A hands-on learning and job opportunity for individuals who have completed, or are currently enrolled in a classroom based mechanical training program. This position includes a combination of education courses specific to Condon-Johnson’s industry and on-the-job training designed to develop selected candidates into highly skilled and professional trade employees starting their career in heavy equipment maintenance and repair. Successful candidates are dependable, hardworking, engaged in their training opportunities, perform mechanical or shop tasks independently as directed, and support Journeymen in their maintenance activities.

  • Perform basic mechanical maintenance or shop duties as directed
  • Perform safe operation of hand tools, mobile equipment, forklifts, and mobile cranes
  • Perform work area and equipment safety inspections
  • Attend required classroom training sessions as necessary
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Enrollment or completion from one of the following: A structured mechanical apprenticeship program, a certified mechanical training institute, or any educational mechanical program
  • Basic understanding of mechanical maintenance principles

Preferred

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Previous maintenance experience in an industrial setting

Criteria/Conditions

  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to work safely in a fast-paced environment meeting deadlines as needed
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, and work on elevated platforms as needed
  • May be required to lift moderately heavy to heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the course of the workday
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work, outdoors or in a shop environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
  • Condon-Johnson & Associates promotes a drug/alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as per applicable State Laws
  • Must be willing to join the local Union respective to your trade as we are a Union contractor
